How to effectively stay on top of your busy work, study, and lifestyle

5 Key tips for staying ahead

It can be quite a challenge when it comes to juggling three highly important priorities in your life;  being,  work, lifestyle and study. Some believe an equal time factor is most appropriate when juggling a number priorities, however, studies show us that it all comes down to what you are most passionate about. That being said, with the right balance comes to a few effective techniques which are considered manageable from a holistic perspective.

Some of these tips are quite obvious, although most of us tend to forget that the simple ways in life can be most complicated when applying.

Here are our top 5 techniques and rules you can apply to maintaining a well-sought lifestyle.

1. Manage your time as if you are the prime minister
A prime minister is without a doubt the most diligent person when it comes to managing their own downtime, family and the country's economy. This saying comes with a great emphasis on the point of "how does he/she manage their time so well?

Well, it is quite simple,  they have very strict schedules that virtually run their lives to the point that they are so prepared that even the slightest disturbances and inconveniences are still yet manageable because they are able to incorporate a systematic flexible timetable. Everything they do is pre-planned weeks/days ahead of the actual task, which gives them additional time to restructure as the day goes on, allowing changes to be made for time adjusting projects etc.

2. Prioritise like a pro
To ensure your time is being managed effectively, you will also need to have a well-prioritised outline of projects.  Here two key tips on mapping out your priorities for your busy schedule;

Write down your list of tasks  Before writing projects in your schedule, you need to make a list of everything you need to do from start to finish.  Now, this does not have to be in a particular order or format, it just has to be noted down.

Label each task with a due date The next step would be to write down next to each task on your list the accurate due date. You may find it easier to type this on the computer (Microsoft Excel) that way you can easily re-organise the order of due tasks from earliest to latest.
If you struggle to handwrite or type these tasks in old-school programs, there are highly useful app's you can use to help you get started.

Here are a few options to consider downloading*; 1. Clear, 2. Workflow, 3. Clara, 4. Wunderlist.
*The advantage of using modern day applications is that they both mobile and computer compatible, ensuring you have it with you everywhere you go.

3. Delegate like a boss
Delegation is quite a hard skill to master, however, once you learn how to do it, and do it well, each working day will be more streamlined and successful for everyone involved. With this focus, you can have others assist you in both work and life, freeing up time for other important tasks.

4. Look after your health
This is probably the most underestimated tool for optimising human performance and working at a pace of efficiency. You may of head this a million times, but taking care of your own health is highly crucial from an all-rounded perspective which goes back to that old saying, "you are what you eat" and if you eat junk, you become junk. Therefore, giving yourself a well-balanced diet, adequate sleep, and incorporating regular exercise (before or after hours) are crucial to having a successful study and work-life balance.

If you have a healthy body, you have a  healthy mind, and if you have a healthy mind, you have a healthy life balance.

5. Limit your Netflix & social media activities
Believe it or not, Netflix and social media are the two most time absorbing platforms in our lives that we tend to take very little notice of.

Sadly, the unaware and excessive use of these channels achieves absolutely nothing for us nor our lives. You may think that these are a great tool for escaping reality and resting your mind and body, but in actual fact it drains you subconsciously which in effect weakens you, causing your time and performance to be affected. If you are not using these activities for work or study, you may need to limit your use. You will be surprised as to how much time you can free up by doing this!

In summary of this, get into the habit of planning and organising every task you do with strict guidelines.
